What is nitrous oxide sedation?

Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, is an inhalant used to relax patients during one or more dental treatments. It's administered through a mask, works quickly, and enables patients to remain conscious and calm throughout their appointment.

What is oral sedation?

A prescribed medication that can be ideal for those who experience severe dental anxiety since it allows patients to remain conscious but relaxed during their appointment, oral sedation takes effect approximately 20 to 30 minutes after being swallowed. It provides a significant level of calm that, in some cases, causes patients to forget the details of their visit.

Who is a candidate for dental sedation?

Dental sedation may be ideal for patients who experience stress or anxiety while visiting our office. It can also be beneficial for those with sensitive gag reflexes, special needs, and patients who are having extensive work performed, such as root canal therapy or wisdom tooth extraction.
