Dr. Strickland combines the use of high-tech dentistry with his gentle touch to deliver precise, comfortable and minimally invasive treatment. Following are descriptions of the state-of-the-art equipment used in our office.
Carestream 8100 3D cone beam CT scanner
Dr. Strickland uses a low-radiation cone beam scanner to create 360° 3D images of your teeth, jaw, skull and gums. This information is essential for diagnosing areas of potential trouble, for planning placement of implants and for Dr. Strickland to create your treatment plan, accurately and efficiently.
Panoramic X-rays use low-radiation digital technology to capture two dimensional scans of your upper and lower jaws and teeth. It is a 2D half-circle view from ear to ear. With this information, Dr. Strickland can plan your treatment.
Digital X-rays are taken and seen immediately on a computer screen. These low-radiation images are sharp and give us clear and accurate information about your teeth and mouth. These images aid in diagnosis and help you to understand what is going on in your mouth.
We use digital cameras to record our patients’ smiles. These photos are used in treatment planning, and to show you how your smile could look after treatment.
An intraoral camera takes digital pictures of the inside of your mouth with a small, pen-sized wand. These pictures are available immediately to view, and allow you to see exactly what is going on in your mouth and with your teeth.
Dental lasers allow for extremely precise, minimally invasive, efficient and comfortable treatment. Our office utilizes several types of dental lasers.
The DIAGNOdent system utilizes a laser scanner to check teeth for hidden cavities. lt is a non-invasive, comfortable and quick way to scan your mouth for signs of decay and cavities. This laser uses fluorescent light to detect tooth decay. Because tooth decay usually begins in tiny cracks in your teeth, which would go unnoticed at the onset, we can detect and handle the problem early, before it becomes a bigger issue.
Picasso+® soft tissue laser
A soft tissue laser is used to safely, accurately and comfortably remove bacteria in the gums, as well as recontouring the gumline. The laser can destroy bacteria that lies hidden in gum pockets which, in turn, prevents future infection. It is used to reshape a “gummy smile” and expose the healthy tooth that was covered by excess gum tissue.
Our caring hygienist utilizes advanced technology to deliver efficient, gentle and minimally invasive cleanings to our patients.
Cavitron ultra-sonic scaler
Ultrasonic scalers are used to remove plaque and break up bacteria deposits using ultrasonic sound waves. This is more effective than using traditional scaling instruments, and is much more comfortable for the patient.
We use the Prophy Jet air polishing system to polish teeth using air, water and polishing powder. This system removes debris and stains from the teeth.
The Wand® anesthesia system
Receiving anesthesia doesn’t have to involve pain. The Wand is a computerized injection system that controls the pressure and flow of anesthesia, thereby giving patients virtually painless tooth numbing.
Accurate oral cancer screening method
Using a special, high-tech oral cancer screening system, we check your mouth quickly and comfortably for any abnormal tissue. When oral cancer is treated early on, it is a very treatable disease, with success rates of 90 percent.
WaveOne® for root canal therapy
Dr. Strickland uses the WaveOne rotary system when performing root canal therapy. This system cleans and shapes the root canal, and aids in shortening treatment time. It also increases the safety factors and quality of the treatment. All of this adds up to less time in the dental chair, which equals less stress for you.
